Case Study

Oil and Gas Platform, Middle East

The Situation

KSM Group's Phoenix Team received a noise control enquiry related to the renovation and redevelopment of four existing oil platforms in the Middle East. Our main task was to assist our customer in solving complicated HVAC noise issues across the four oil platforms.

The Solution

We kicked off the solutions by studying the in and out of the overall duct layouts across all four platforms. With all the information provided, we were able to identify the main noise sources, as well as the noise requirement of each space type.

Taking care of the pressure drop across the rectangular silencer is critical. We understand the platform space is constrained and limited.

We worked with the consultant to identify the changes in the duct layout to meet the best possible noise criteria of each space type. We recommend the best alternative to the duct layout changes, meeting the best acoustical performance for each space type.

With the challenges of time and geographical differences, we worked closely with an overseas consultant on the acoustical recommendation and rectangular silencer selections. We completed successfully the whole design and selection within the time frame.

During the fabrication period, our production and quality control teams ensure the rectangular silencers meet the stringent standards of our clients: withstand the offshore conditions.

The stainless steel silencers were delivered to site on time, meeting the critical requests of our clients.
